LOL! where the hell are all previous posts? did admin accidently blown away the database?

  • subin says:

I think the type of songs Kamaal can sing have finished thats why he sang a same song(“Chaiyaa Chiayaa” ) for the second time in Contest…hahahha..LOL!!!!

    • neetu says:

Funny that u noticed only Kamal’s song, when all the contestants sang their old songs , the ones they had already sung before….maybe u should try to enjoy the songs rather than watch it so u could diss one particular person !!

  • kalaa says:

Just an update for everyone – vote counting is in progress and Abhilasha has more votes than the other two combined.

First runner up at this point is Bishakh.

Kamal has come in last, but kudos to him for getting to the final 3.

    • neetu says:

3 Cheers to our own “K” aka “Karamchand” who is alwaz there with all the scoops !!!!!!
Khudos to u man(?) !!! seems like u are hooked to the telly…so do u also watch all those saas-bahu kinda serials where they teach u all these ingenious moves????
BTW how do u cook up these updates???

    • Tristan says:

Kalaa, please give me the names of three finalists for next year too. I am dying to know. ;)

  • Dhaval says:

why this bloody videos not working???
    wasss up man?

  • admin says:

Dhaval, an update is in progress. Videos should be working in 2-3hrs.

In the meanwhile you can visit http://www.indianpad.in for videos.

  • Dhaval says:

many thanks admin for your prompt help.

  • Basil says:

Some personal thoughts I’d like to share:

Boxing is an art. Yet, it is the scientific boxer who draws attention.
Wher am I going with this, one may ask :)

Based solely on a clip of a recording by Bishak for movie Guzaarish, I believe Bishak’s potential has been muffled throughout the contest – possibly because of varied demands and tension during the entire contest. This, ofcourse, MAY be true about the Abilasha and Kamal as well but that would be conjecture.

Again, based on that one afore-mentioned clip, I believe Bishak will be the next rave – far surpassing the likes of Udit Narayan et al. He appears to have mastered ‘Marketing The Voice’. Call it ‘Performer’? True, whether or not public opinion makes him top out.

The guy [Bishak] is ingenious and aspires to hone his technique. The other two, no doubt, have done their best.

    • Tristan says:

I totally agree with you except the part where he will surpass Udit. Udit has already wrote his name in the history and no one can take it away from him. He’s been there and he’s done that and I no body will ever surpass him just like he could/would not surpass Kishore Kumar or Rafi.

Talking about Bishak, he has proved that he worked harder than anybody else to be in that top three spot since he was mostly the least favorite among the contestants. He success is truly inspiring. For me, he is already a winner. The last weeks “Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho” performance was yet another feather on his hat. I will drink for him if he wins since it will be the true moment of triumph for me, although it’s very hard for me to see him win when the other contestants are more popular (not more talented but more popular).

  • srgmp says:

Kalaa (I would stick to Kalaa, if you don’t mind), please stay here till the end. Personally, I would like to congratulate you, when the results are out (one way or the other)!!

Please keep us updated with the vote count.. Can you please give the NUMBERS, too?

    (Am I in ACCEPTANCE stage?)

  • Archana says:

I can not hep wonder how one specuation [ or probabbly even a credible inforation] canturn the tide. Now all those who were singing praises for Kamal has started finding ways to praise Bishakh of all whose voice clearly is mediocre compared to Kamal, Khurram & Ranjeeth. Kamal has pleased classes(Rehman, Durbar, Shekhar…] as well as masses.
If Kamal does not win this competition it will be because of milions who have enjoyed a rare singer but forgot to vote for him. Kamal is an un-cut diamog. If he does not win this contest he is certainly not the loser.

    • Tristan says:

You must be high for calling Bishakh’s voice mediocre.

If the praises shifts from one singer to another, then the credit goes to everything but a mediocre voice. Bishakh has also pleased many because he won the most “performance of the day” (that alone is an evidence). Beside that, he rose to fame despite being on the bottom three because some stupid voters were busy voting likes of Khurram (and his good looks) who was nothing more than an Atif Aslam wannabe.

Rahman was actually very much please with Sniti Mishra than anybody else. I wished she was in top three. She was unique and an uncut diamond — a true gem.

What is this, a true Kamal Khan fans are actually accepting the fact that he is losing by writing “If he does not win this contest he is certainly not the loser”? Don’t worry, he could actually win. His chance is more than 33% at this time.

      • neetu says:

I dont think anyone is accepting thet at all…I’m pretty sure he will win Tristan, and if u look at his entire performance over the eason u will acknowledge too that he has been the most consistent of all the performers and is definately the top most contender for the title…I belive this guy is a rare gem and will do wonders !!!
Sniti Mishra was pretty good too…would have been good to see her ehere, but i think the final 3 are the most deserving though…Bishakh has really improved…loved his Guzarsh ..l. found that to be his best…Loved Abhilasha’s Chupke se….but Kamal ruled all the way for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Archana says:

I would als want to state that it would have done wonders for Kaal if he had sung some non-sufi-punjabi songs. Especially those rendered by Udit Narayan because i feel that Udit Narayan & Kamal have lot of things common.

    • Tristan says:

If you are a guy and you can not/ did not sing mohd. Rafi songs in a talent hunt show, you already lost. Nobody has ever sung better and with so much feeling than Rafi. You neglect Rafi songs and you are nobody. Just like if you are a girl, you must sing Lata Mangeshkar to actually validate that you are an actual singer.

How can you come to HINDI talent hunt show and not sing M. Rafi’s songs? That’s an insult, just like the way he insulted RD Burman by not singing his song when everyone else were singing RD Burman (During first half of Richa Sharma Week). It’s ridiculous. I am pretty sure if Kamal tried he would have sung them really beautifully but I guess his mentors VS thought otherwise. I think they saw it as a great platform for them to promote themselves since their songs would sound good in Kamal’s voice and it would be a great platform to re-introduce their songs and tell the whole world “See? “Tashan” songs were “this” good but you (audiences) failed to appreciate us then. Here, a second chance, listen to it again and buy/download our songs and appreciate them and know that we are self-proclaimed amazing musician duos who can’t even take an alaap in “sur”. Otherwise why would they make him sing most of their following compositions??

      1. Tu Na Jaane — okay, this song suits him and he sung it beautifully

      2. Ma Da Ladla — Are you serious?

      3. Tashan Mein — Kidding me right?

      4. Dil Hara Re — Okay, he was singing with his mentors but still, this song?

      5. Dard-E-Disco? Need I say more?

Insted of making him sing their own songs they should have made him stick with some Vishal Bhardwaj Songs (I think “Naina” song was one of his best rendition of the song) or Shankar Esshan Loys songs (He was better when he sung SEL’s songs like “Bol Na Halke”, “Teri Kali Ankhiyon”, “Jhoom Barabar Jhoom”.

      • neetu says:

I do af\gree with u on some counts Tristan, specially his song selection in the last episode…………but im pretty sure if u look into all his performances put together he is the BEST here for me personally. Abhilasha’s last performance was good but if u check her earlier ones quite a loyt of times she did not fulfil her potential..she started out well but never reached the heights she could(?) have….specially when she sang with RIcha she was so flat…

      • neetu says:

MR. Tristan Which ERA do u belong to?? I dont thinks its mandatory to sing Rafi songs to win a contest…this is not the 80-90′s where everyone was trying to become the next Rafi…we have come a long way..we have some exceptional talent here and i think its better to move on…there is no one like Rafi here..and there would be none but he was the gold standard long time back…so pls get on with the times!!

  • kalaa says:

If Bishakh wins this contest, that would be like an athlete from the Special Olympics beating athletes from the regular Olympics.

However I fully understand where Basil and Tristan are coming from.

If Bishakh wins, that gives hope to all of us. Even those of us who may sound better than a braying donkey but not by very much, a category that Basil, Tristan and I all probably belong to, can then dream of becoming the next superstar of Indian music.

Yes, all us bathroom singers can aspire to great things if Bishakh wins. Let us, then, join our hands in prayer that every Kolkatan will cast a vote thereby giving hope to the Basils and Tristans of the world.

Three cheers for the average guy!

    • Tristan says:

I read it somewhere else that you were “Kalaakaar” before and somehow it chopped off half of your name and hence the name: Kalaa. That makes you a very special person. A mentally retarded half-named wannabe pothead who’d smoke a pot just to prove that his/her mind is full. But how could it be full when your name is already chopped off and you have already lost the other half of your mind (due to chopping) and you are just another retard walking down the street trying to find a platform where you could prove that you are as smart as everyone in this forum/world/your surrounding and falls flat on his/her handicapped brain by making stupidest comments ever (Like, Abhilasha is leading, Bishakh can’t sing (but he’s in top 3), Bishakh is a bathroom singer and Kamal Khan is a lone hooker (Oh, you haven’t said that yet? You will)). :)

    • sarbori says:

Anybody who thinks that Bishakh is an average singer is not talking much sense. If his rendition of the Guzarish song was average, and if any bathroom singer can do that, then I would say winners of most of these music shows are bathroom singers. If Abhilasha and Kamal have the potential to win, then so does Bishakh. And if one thinks that he does’nt have it in him to become a winner and has simply become a finalist by fluke, then the same logic applies for the other two finalists. And if every Maharashtrian can vote for Abhilasha just b’coz she is from Maharashtra and b’coz she sung Lavani, it is but natural that the Kolkatans would vote for Bishakh .And if it were only the Kolkatans voting for him, then sure enough he would’nt have come this far beating the likes of Sugandha Mishra and Sniti Mishra. It surely takes more than a ‘bathroom singer’ to win the POD title 7 times.

  • V says:

I’d say Bhishakh or Kamal are midgets compared to Sriram of Indian Idol who is massively talented and has a gorgeous voice.

  • srgmp says:

Kalaa, dear, what has happened to you? Is it that you paid more attention here at this forum than at your MNC as SrMgr? Did that cause you any problem? Or are you just sick? By sick, I mean, sick!! Are you trying to create some sensation here?

Come on dude, shape up!! By the way, what happened to the count?

  • srgmp says:

Neetu, I am (right now) having a relaxing drink and listening to Kamal’s best performances (Sajda, Ankhiya Udeek Diyan, Kamli, Sohni, Dildaara… actually all except Ma Da Ladla!! Nothing like this, I tell you (after my wife)!!

I just hope, I get to listen to this dude (Kamal) for a long time (regardless of whether he wins). Please AMEN to that!!

    • neetu says:

      AMEN !!!!!!!!
Seems like i missed out on quite a lot of action here….was travelling to NY to spend christmas with my sister and drink to Kamal’s victory!!!
Our very dear “K” seems to have disappeared too…Missing u “K”….
I actually went back and listened to a lot of Kamal’s performances too…frankly was disappointed in his song selection in the last episode, but it is just a mnor hiccup…he has been bloody brillinat throughout and i think thats what should count…after all “Form is temporary and Class is permanent ” And he is one CLASSY performer….way to go KAMAL!!!!!!!!

  • srgmp says:

    Thanks, and AMEN!!

Oh, no!! “k” is very much here, alright. Not just the usual “K”, though. I don’t think, we can now even say “mood-swings”, I’m afraid!!

Yes, I agree, Kamal’s last episode song selection was OK. I wish, he had done “Teri Aur” from “Singh Is King”, or “Teri yaad saath hai” from “Namaste London”. I was almost sure, that he would do one of these, as these are among the best of Rahat’s. Anyway, done is done.

Now, public vote can be tricky. Sometimes, they remember, what their rep did in just the election year. Sometimes, they care only about all other years than the last. So, you never know!!

I voted for Kamal based on his overall brilliance (and who am I kidding, I just love this kid for everything he is!!), but my wife voted for Bishakh for his brilliant performances in last two episodes. So, hard to say!!

Though, my hunch (still) is, he will win with flying colors!! AMEN to that!!

  • srgmp says:

Oh, and Merry Christmas to all!!

  • srgmp says:

I don’t believe in “Happy Holidays”!!

  • srgmp says:

May be it’s the drinks, or more likely, it’s Kamal’s songs!! I am feeling too happy!! Merry Christmas!!

Kalaa, please drink a little (or lot), and listen to

Kamal’s Sajda, Ankhiya Udeek Diyan, Kamli, Sohni Lag di, Dildaara, Kadi Aa Mil

or Khurram’s Saanwal Mohr Muhara / Bin Tere

or Sniti’s Mora Saiyan Mose Bole Na

or Abhilasha’s Tu Chanda Mein Chandani / Saiyan Pakad Baiyan / Chupke se

or Bishakh’s Chitthi Na Koi Sandesh / Tum Jo Mil Gaye ho……

I promise you, all your daemons will die, and something good will get into you, (and come out of you)!!

Moving on from the contestants, I have some questions and concerns about Daler Mehndi as judge.

When we hear him say “Rab rakha” or “chak de phatte” in response to a contestant’s performance (which he does 98% of the time) what are we to conclude about his opinion?

Is there some deep and powerful meaning encoded inside the critical comment “Rab rakha” that I’m missing?

When he jumps on to the stage and disrupts an ongoing performance by screaming at about 3 octaves higher, what conclusion can we come to as a singer or a listener?

Is he sending a subliminal message as judge with these actions that cannot be interpreted by a normal human, or is it obvious to everyone except me?
