Thanks Kalaa, V and SRGMP for your response.
Kalaa, Abhilasha is very much a Tamilian (actually “Tamilian-Maharashtrian” to be politically correct !) and both her parents are too. Though she is born, brought up in Pune and educated at a english medium school but grew up mostly in cosmopolitan locality so her exposure to Marathi language as such was very limited.
But when she entered Zee Marathi SRGMP contest, one of the judges who is considered to be very fair and just and whose Gharana she belonged to and was groomed or polished a bit (Dr. Salil Kulkarni) told her in the 3rd episode only that he will NO MORE PRAISE Abhilasha for singing Marathi songs so fluently and with proper pronunciation coz that was least expected. BUT IF SHE WANTED TO HAVE “RIGHT” EXPRESSIONS AND EMOTIONS IN HER SONGS, she must start learning the language to learn not only meaning of each word in the lyrics but also must know the overall context. After that she really took extra efforts and then her performances improved immensely.
Hi All,
kamal khan though not 10% as versatile as Kishore Kumar as of now has shown the promise of being one in future. We need to remember that he has not been blessed with a wholesome upbringing which would have extended his horizons beyond the punjabi music[which by the way is unarguably one of the most endearing forms of music as proved by its polularity]. He needs to give himself some peaceful and quality moments spent with “men of the world+thoughts+emotions” for him to evolve as a person and that wil naturally act on his singling. remeber that kishore had an Ashok Kumar for brother. i hope with all my best wishes that it happens.
With my little knowledge of music i hv understood that parameters for veratality in music are A. sur [shruthi & swara] B. ability to imate within sur C. Pitch & Range D. lay & tal E. Exposure to different kinds of music. Kamal is exemplary in A., B. & C.
He has to work on tal & lay as is pointed out by Daler Mehdi time & again. If right exposure comes and he can embrace it , god willing, then he can achieve a lot. Otherwise he will join the bandwagon of also ran punjabi music singers who fade out after a while.
I am not very sure how the song selection is done here. Whether its done by the creative team, or music trainer Sanjay Vidyarthi, the judges or contestants themselves. I feel the effect of music training (by the show trainer) to the contestants is not really that outstanding. The creative team indulges more in non-music issues.
That is why I have been saying that hence forth they all 4 cotenstants should sing the SAME SONG that too from different genres. Usase pata chal jayega ki kaun kitane paani mein hai ! That will be the true test, fair and just judging of their singing abilities. Is any one from the creative team listening / reading ?
This is easily the best show thus far! Richa Sharma with her fantastic voice and ebullient attitude made it shine. She brought the best out of the contestants. Kamal Khan was outstanding and looked and behaved very professional. Abhilasha was tentative, but her beautiful voice was back and came out of this looking good. I thought these two came out the winners in this episode.
As a side note, why are these women wearing these awful outfits and high heels? Their waddling is unbearable to watch. This is the ugly side of westernization.
What show today!! I agree, probably the best thus far!
Richa Sharma – what a guest!! She was just so energetic, so decent, so graceful, and all that on top of being so talented!! WOW!! I became her fan in an instant!! I liked Daler’s singing today for the first time ever, when he got into that jamming with her. The atmosphere she created during each song, and the way she gave room to each contestant – just WOW!! I just wonder, how people can be (and can stay) like her!! She not only just brought so much good in the show today, she brought a lot good out of everybody, too.
Kamal was as usual the best, but I think, he sang both these songs way way better before, which are still in my favorite 5.
Actually, all of them were great today (after Richa). It’s just so hard to pick one (to go). I agree with Vijay, they need to have them sing the same song. That’s the only way to (reasonably) fairly evaluate them.
To me, all were great today, and anybody can stay or go, but just a guess – Bishakh or Sugandha will go next.
About the necessiity of innocense and humble attitude of the contestants…. Some people seem to be quite puzzled about it; as not so polite Lataji has become sooooo successful!!
Just would like to remind those, Lataji did not have to beg on national television ” Please Please Pleaseeee VOTE for me” to have recognition in the music industry. We, this is a competition, where the result depends on audiences’ feeling toward that contestant! And, not to mention, all those viewers are not Music Pundit!!.. Many would judge them just on their over all singing and presentaion, where ATTITUDE plays a huge role!!
It feels good to see, this time deserving ones came to top 5… unlike last time, when THE BEST “Debojit Dutta” was very fairly(could be a result of nasty manipulation of certain judge) kicked out of the show. This years contestants are really, but still none of them is as good as AMANAT ALI or DEBOJIT DUTTA!!!
So far, Kamal Khan looks like the sure winner of the title, Bishakh should be among top 3, his versatility desreves to be there!!!
unlike last time, when THE BEST “Debojit Dutta” was very UNfairly
Richa ji was so energetic, so decent, so graceful, and all that on top of being so talented.Aisa laga jaise kisine unhe apna Dil manga aur unhone Instantly chir ke nikal ke de dya.kya ada thi.She was singing like a mad.I want to bow infront of her for a singer like her!
Sugandha, I thought, was at the top of her form – in the individual song – and clearly the best of the contestants! Perhaps sitting out the last couple of times has “motivated” her.
Yes, it was great to see Richa Sharma getting into the thick of things, although hers is not a brand of music or voice quality that I appreciate, and that dress looked ridiculous on her auntyji figure.
Abhilasha sang well, and was able to shine even next to Richa – her voice had so much more “mithash” than Richa’s singing the same lines!
Kamal Khan, usual good performance – but usual genre, aka same old sh–. Someone should call out this guy on his utter inability to perform different kinds of music. Only Manish refers to it indirectly by pointedly calling Abhilasha and Sugandha “versatile” and not him.
When Ranjeet kept singing ghazals, the judges were not shy to tell him that he is good at ghazals and should keep singing ghazals. Why don’t they tell Kamal the same sort of thing? I’ve had it with hearing his high-pitched voice belting out the same boring stuff every time.
Bishakh was OK – the only singer for whom Richa gave a negative comment – I’ll bet he’s gonzo in the next episode.
I wonder if the public is affected by the judges comments, or by the Performer of the day award?
For that matter, I wonder how reliable or honest the vote counting is?
Can the judges “influence” the results that in theory should be a pure counting of public votes?
All of this will have a bearing on what happens from here on out. In my opinion, Kamal is in the mould of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, who as we all know is good but not popular. If public’s true voice is heard, then Kamal could be the next one out.
Public is not affected by Judges’ comments or POD awards. I have observed this very carefully. For example, the contestants who got the best comments or were POD sometimes, were in the bottom the very next week. Or the person who became POD this week, would not be the highest vote getter the week after. This has happened almost all the time.
Kalaa, Rahat is not popular? You must be kidding!! In last two-three years, his songs have become the most popular in recent times. His voice is such, that it has caught my ABCD teenager kids’ and their friends’ (who usually are into Eminem kind of stuff) attention, while occasionally watching a Hindi movie.
How can you be so sure it’s not the true public’s voice, that has kept Kamal there? He may be out next week, as may anybody else, but I still maintain, he will be the winner!!
Please listen to Kesariya Baalam of Richa Sharma, you’ll like it.
srgmp, good to hear your kids enjoy it so much, that’s always good to see. I have a preschooler who isn’t into desi music yet :)
But what if Abhilasha kept singing Marathi lavnis.. would the judges be as rapturous as they are when Kamal keeps doing Punjabi and Pakistani stuff?
I’m just wondering how these super critical judges could ignore such an issue. I looked back in the archives to the Rishi Kapoor episode to see when Kamal last sang a typical Hindi or filmi number, that was when everyone did RD Burman songs. Indeed, when Kamal paired up with Rini Chandra I thought he sounded ordinary.
No issue if he wins it – right now any of them but Bishakh would deserve it – but to Vijay’s point, could you put up with hearing such an “off-beat” voice more than occasionally. I can listen to one Rahat song a week, probably “jiya dhadak dhadak”. (btw anything else by him you’d recommend?)
I wonder Kalaa what is in your opinion a “good singer” some one who sings a lot of different songs but average performer or someone who might sing one or two genre songs but sings them fabulously?? If u are following the industry u will notice that these days no one singer gets all the songs..there are specialty singers where they all get the something extra with them…do u think at the end of the competition Bishakh wud get any offers? or even sugandha? I highly doubt it…but Kamal would do so…because what ever he sings he brings it alive..he touches u, he makes the song his own…he owns it and thats what makes him a clear winner in this competition….
Ranjeet was really missed today. I think he did try so many different songs along with beautiful Gazal but all the judges used to tell him ‘Aap to Gazal ke liye hi baneho’. Remember when he sang ‘Aditi…song then hindi duet with Sugandha and even on 10th he was excellent. His performances were remarkable as far as Musical notes / Sur were concern and the way he has got the most innocent face and very sweet voice no one can take it away from him. Why not a single judge is saying to Kamal Khan that he is born to sing Punjabi song only as that is what he always sings, give him some thing different and he has not been as good as his partner, remember his duet. Judges should have been equal to all of them but it looks like Vishal Shekhar can not see the truth or wants to promote his team by any means. I wish now its no more as interesting. Like every thing else the show will come to an end. Hope the right person wins.
Bhatt’s comment does have some point, which I second!
Vishal Shekhar are smart enough to promote their team by any means, so they tagged a music genius like Ranjit as Ghazal singer but did not do same with Kamal Khan. I think after judging with someone so manipulative like Himesh, others tend to learn the nasty tricks for future shows( as we saw Shankar Mahadevan playing nasty tricks in MKMaha Muaqbla!!
Not only tagging Ranjit with ghazal but also bringing their very close friend Richa Sharma(As far I can remember Shekhar mentioned it in previous SAREGAMAPA to Poonam Yadav) at this final stage, it is normal that she would promote Vishal Shekhar’s team as well, and she did that!
Fortunately this time the judges are not nasty, but Vishal Shekhar are playing smart which is little away from being fair.
Kamal Khan was my favorite contestant, now I feel someone else might be more deserving than him.
I hope either Kamal or Sugandha will leave next.
Mu, I don’t agree. It;s not fair to say, that judges are trying to promote the contestants in their teams. All judges have been equally critical/supportive to all contestants based on their performances.
Even now, I see Vishal-Shekhar praising Abhilasha or Daler/Saji/Wajid praising Kamal/Sugandha. They all actually supported Ranjit or Sniti the most. The contestants have gone/stayed based on their own merit.
I don’t care who wins (may the best win based on remaining performances), but I will be very very surprised, if Kamal doesn’t.
Something is not right with the website!!
I posted a reply to a post, and I see that only if I am logged in!!
I wonder, if it’s visible to other people!! Admin?
I don’t like Vishal either – he’s the nastiest of this lot, which otherwise is quite a friendly set of judges. Shekhar seems fair.
Bhatt is right on about the Punjabi rut that Kamal is belting out. Look, Kamal is very talented at his gig, and absolutely a very nice guy, but his problem is identical to Ranjeet’s – he can sing only songs of one type. I think we all recognize this, let’s hope the public does too and see through all the one-eyed praise from the judges. You need to be well-rounded and versatile to win a contest like this.
Yes, this forum is in a bakwaas format. They don’t separate threads, so it’s impossible to see who’s commenting on what, only the 5 most recent comments is what you can see. They need to have a link which takes you to a thread format, ordered by comment date in whichever thread a comment was made.
You are guys are taking this way too personally. Who ever gets the most votes, by definition, is the winner! I don’t see any qualifications advertised. And whoever wins this is not going to matter after the whole thing is over. They get a few contracts, get to tour a bit and take home a car, going by past history. Where are the past winners? Neither Kamal Khan nor Abhilasha is going to share their winnings with us. It’s fun betting on who’s going to win. But that’s about it. I have no idea how many people vote (millions? tens of millions?) and how many times each person votes on average. What are the judges still doing there any way? Daler seems to be OK with any quality of singing. He uniformly praises everyone. Vishal is a bit more critical. He used to be rather lukewarm towards Suganddha but now he has started praising her. Sajid is nice to everyone and Wajid tends to be a bit more critical. But AFAIK they have no voting power. The only power they have is to postpone elimination like they did last week.
Beautiful comments V! and absolutely true.
lol V, I bet you don’t vote in elections – the whole point of a contest is who wins, and ZTV is counting on enthusiasm from viewers to keep their show alive.
Imagine that Bishakh (or substitute your weakest singer) wins the contest – would you not feel some outrage? Sure it doesn’t matter to you personally, but the whole thing becomes a charade that you wasted your time on.
By the way, if you were a contestant would you check this web site to see viewers comments on your singing? I sure would! So maybe someone’s actually reading all this stuff which we waste our time typing and arguing :)
I just read all comments for fun, nothing else. I usually spend my leisure time watching Saregamapa shows. I do not care who wins, but I really enjoy listening to new consistent and competitions, just like watching Sport game. That’s all
Actually, I commented long ago when there were still a dozen or so contestants that Bishakh was the dark horse in this. NE states are known to take these competitions seriously and, besides, Bishakh is a very good singer. He may not be the best AFAIC, but between the handful of people here we have widely divergent views on who is good and and who is not. I think unlike us, these contestants are too damn busy – they have to learn 2 new songs every week and perform.
Kalaa, I posted this before, but somehow it doesn’t show up (when I am not logged in), so I am not sure if it’s visible to other members on this forum, weird issue. It may be because of the URLs to the songs. I am going to remove all those links to the Rahat songs (anyway, all can be googled), and see if it shows up:

To tell you the truth, my kids are not as much into Desi music as I would like them to be, but what I wanted to indicate was, that real good music/voice does attract attention (without the need of any understanding of lyrics or raaga). They appear to show that they hate (it even when we watch) SAREGAMAPA, but I have caught them focusing (from the beginning of the show) when Kamal/Sniti/Sugandha/Abhilasha/Khurram performed. Same goes with some of KK/Rahat/Shaan/Atif/Sunidhi/Mohit songs (I know this, as they have managed to download those on their iPods) or even very old classics. Your preschooler will get to it eventually, if (s)he keeps on getting exposed to it even indirectly.
Another truth, Abhilasha’s Lawani/Tu chanda.. is one of my favorites (favorite equally for the Lawani). I did not understand more then a few words, but I loved it immediately. I really watched almost all her Marathi SAREGAMAPA songs, and enjoyed quite a bit. Same with Kamal’s ‘Awaaz Punjab Di’ performances. Didn’t understand much, but loved those. I tried to find Bishakh’s Bangla ones, but no luck.
Point is, for music has no language bar to sound good. Few of my most favorite Gujarati songs are not sung by Gujarati singers, but Mukesh/Kishore/Lata/Mittali/Bhupinder. And they did/do not know Gujarati at all.
So, to answer your question, no, I wouldn’t be bored with Abhilasha’s marathi songs, as long as they sound good. Same way, Kamal is too good of a talent to let go on the basis of his current language skills.
Here are some of Rahat’s likables (actually, thanks to you, I got to listen to some I didn’t know before):
Surili Ankhiyonwale (Veer)
Sajda (My Name Is Khan)
Main Jahan Bhi Rahoon (Namaste London)
Tum Jo Aaye Zindagi Me (Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai)
Aaj Din Chadheya (Love Aaj Kal)
Lagan Ladi (Paap)
O Re Piya (Aaja Nachle)
Tu na jaane Aas-paas (Anjaana Anjaani)
Tere Mast mast (Dabangg)
Bol na Halke (Jhoom Barabar Jhoom)
Bahara (I hate Love Stories)
Naina Thag Lenge (Omkara)
Khusnuma Sa Ye Roshan (Knoch Out)
Aankhon Mein (We are Family)
Man Banwara (Aasma)
Haal-E-Dil (Hall-E-Dil)
Jag Soona Soona Lage (Om Shanti Om)
DIl to Bachcha Hai Ji (Ishqiya)
Teri Aur (Singh Is King)
=====================
I agree with “V” – there will be no point of all these, once it’s over.
But again, I agree more with Kalaa, that it’s all worth way more than we can/do comprehend, as we have been able to feel joy (or sadness alike) during the whole season watching it, discussing it here (to however limited audience), and mostly getting back to something we like out of our very busy life otherwise!! There is no point of anything anyway, once it’s over. But till it’s not over, it’s worth every penny!!
I actually got to know so many new/old songs which I liked (which would have gone unnoticed by me, as I don’t/can’t see as many Hindi movies), and have added to my Gym companion because of this program. Even many of my friends have benefited (getting all these new songs) without even watching SAREGAMAPA.
So, yes, it’s well worth it (not a waste by any means)!!
V: “I think unlike us, these contestants are too damn busy – they have to learn 2 new songs every week and perform”
yaar, I take exception to that – these kids are busier preparing for 2 songs a week than I am as a senior manager at a large MNC? ;)
Everyone has some down time, and with iphones & ipads (I have both) it’s easier than ever to quickly check a site you like.
To be honest, I don’t understand very divergent views between people who have some amount of experience/training.
For example, do we all agree that Kamal and Abhilasha are the most consistently pakka on sur of any of these contestants – Kamal perhaps a bit more so that Abhilasha? If not, I’m puzzled (or tone deaf).
Do we agree that Abhilasha is the most versatile of those left, and has the best voice quality of those left?
Once you get to likeability, looks, personality, everyone can disagree – but on the basics there can’t be much divergence.
If you follow cricket, here’s an analogy: would you rather select an average all-rounder over a top-class batsman or bowler? I wouldn’t.
Would you select a very very good all rounder over a slightly better bowler or batsman? I would.
srgmp, many thanks for that list and I will check them out. Apparently it’s not easy to post links here – maybe they think it’s competition?? :)
Agree, kids who have a liking for music (and who doesn’t?) will take to Indian songs which are well performed despite language difficulty. In fact they may even use it as a vehicle to understand the languages.
You seem to be a true music lover, going by your enjoyment of different language songs. I’m not sure I could appreciate it as much if I didn’t understand the lyrics. That’s part of my problem with Kamal (or Richa for that matter).
I’m all for Kamal to be one of the top two, but to me versatility is a must to win this thing. He’s a top-class batsman, and of course I’d select him over average all-rounder Bishakh.
But Abhilasha is a superb allrounder, even if not as good a bat as Kamal. She is more valuable.
Thanks, Kalaa, yes, I am a big music lover, but I don’t have much understanding of music (like technicalities of shuddha ‘dha’ vs. komal ‘dha’…….. that’s greek to me!!).
But I can just feel it, when it’s good. It does something to me way deep. It’s as if an oscillator can sense each pitch of a wave.. hard to explain. I think, that’s how it is for most of the uneducated music lovers like me (meaning Janta or my kids, for example). And only that’s why, what I have predicted has happened so far, not because I am a good analyst or anything.
I think, Kamal has managed to touch people that way. If you just stop analyzing all technicalities about his voice, just put on a good quality headphones, and listen to his songs at high volume (for example, just listen to his last solo performance – Sohni Lagdi, and compare it with original one, which was a very popular number BTW), you’ll probably understand what I am trying to say.
So Abhilasha was the top vote getter again and the first to enter Top 3! Daler gifts her a ring worth 5 lakh rupees!
Yes, I saw that, too. That’s great, Abhilasha!!
BTW, I saw some clips for Friday show. Kamal is singing ‘Dard-E-Disco..’ and ‘O Re Piya… (Aaja Nachle)’. Can’t wait to watch/listen (especially the later), as both performances look very very promising (as usual for Kamaaaaal)!! Also, the Zee serial actress with him looks quite cute, too (not as beautiful as Archana, but way sexier for sure)!
Also, I saw Abhilasha singing a Marathi number, and a South Indian one (it sounded like some South Indian language!!). Funny, she chose last episode (as I think, the voting for the winner will be based on this week’s performances) to experiment. For Kamal, it’s established, that he sings a wide variety of songs like Sufi / Gazhal / Pop / Rock, but most of those having Punjabi influence, so he’s OK. I am not sure, how it’ll work for Abhilasha.
Poor Bishakh!! He is teaming up with literally annoying Zee TV actress (Lali)!! I hope, it doesn’t affect him too much (for votes).
No Wikileaks this week? On who is getting out?
^ Abhilasha probably pandering to Mumbai voters :)
It’s good to see the public getting things right – Abhilasha, Kamal and Sugandha have surely earned top 3.
Now let’s see if they got the last vote right and Bishakh is gone, or have Kolkata and vicinity stepped up their partisan voting!
Speaking of Wikileaks, you have to salute the justice system in Britain for letting the guy out, in spite of the only superpower in the world baying for his blood. This is what an independent judiciary is all about.
Are you saying Abhilasha was taking a risk while Kamal was playing it safe? There’s nothing wrong in singing in her native tongue. Kamal does it all the time.
It’s not her native tongue – she can’t speak a word of Marathi. I think she doesn’t understand half what she’s singing! Which is probably why she lost the Marathi Saregama.
By the way, I’ve been catching up with the archives, as I started watching this season late (probably started right around when I started posting here), and of the ones I’ve seen so far, I have to say the tear-jerker episode with the parents was awesome. Everybody sang very well, and Bishakh in all his emotion was surely at his best in that one.
Also, srgmp, I now understand why you are rooting for Kamal. He’s just a fantastic kid, I’ll give you that. But but but, he’s still not the best singer – Abhilasha is! (I don’t like her personality, love Sugandha, but I’m separating my judgment from my emotions :)
“V” : No, Kamal has not beenplaying safe, but, yes, Abhilasha is taking risk (if those are really her performances that count and not just one/two lines for the sake of entertainment – hard to say from clips).
Kamal has sung those kind of songs, and he has managed to be among top in popularity. So, for him, it’s proven approach. For Abhilasha, it’s not (proven approach), so it might just go wrong, when it really matters. That’s what I wanted to suggest. I may be completely wrong.
Kalaa, while you’re at it, I would suggest you to listen to all of Kamal’s performances one by one, and listen to original version of each (I couldn’t find just one original – Tere Bina Kamli Hoi). I am almost sure, that you’ll agree that he has really made each of his song sound (either) just way better than original (or at least as good). He has managed to give his own color and feel to each song, and has managed to get the audience in an awe. That’s definitely not the case with Abhilasha (I have done same for all Abhilasha’s songs, too, BTW). That’s why I would put her at 2nd position.
Yes, Bishakh’s Parents’ episode performance was just too good!! And in the same episode, I liked Khurram’s performance 2nd (after Bishakh).
I agree with u absolutely….Kamal makes a song his own!
Hi Neetu!
This is just to acknowledge, that I have read your comments about Kamal before, have noted you as a Kamal fan, and added you on my team :-))!!
Joke apart, I really mean what I wrote about his singing. And apparently, it’s not just me!
All are 95 to 100 marks contestants (at least TOP 5), and it’s really difficult to pick just one. It’s really painful to see any of those disheartened. But as they just have to pick one, I would be very surprised, if it’s not Kamal. Very!!
“SRGMP” since your adoration for all things Kamal is very obvious, let me state my bias too. Kamal is like a street musician with a limited set of skills. The ornamentation he adds are fairly cliched and I can pretty much predict where he is going next. He is talented though which is why I can listen to him at least once. Suganddha – I tune out most of the time. There is something about her voice that doesn’t do it for me. Sniti, OTOH, was different. Boy, was she daring!
I predict one finalist from each group.
Wow “V” where do u come from??? if u have street muscicinas like this in ur native place u sure are blessed…..hmmm funny though that u dont have run of the mill, good but not consistent, sur mein but not flawless, singers like abhilasha???
Seriously just because u like one singer does it mean u have to demean others? why cant u just appreciate good music?? stick to ur fav but dont act petty ….
Funny but i wonder why did Vishal Shekhar decided to take a street singer for their movie? Guess they dont really apprecite great music like you “V” ….
“Kalaa”, carnatic is very much south indian. Apparently she combined carnatic and lavani music.
“V” : I appreciate your bias.
However, let me clarify – I wouldn’t put my liking of Kamal as ‘adoration’. At the same time though, I would admit that I haven’t found many (even in current Bollywood lot) as effective as him lately, and would maintain my stand, that he is the best in this lot for sure.
You have been pretty reasonable in your comments, so please don’t give him just ‘street musician’. You know, he has to be (and he is) way way way way way way way way……. better than that to be where he is. So, please give him some slack :-))!!
Forget about the ornaments he adds (although very likable) for the moment. Let’s just focus on the actual original content of the songs he performed. He has done better justice to most of the songs than the original singer. I would suggest the same thing to you, as I suggested to Kalaa. Just to name a few – Sajda, Sohni Lag Di, Kadi aa Mil, Tu na jaane aas-paas, Tu maane ya na maane dildaara, Ankhiyan Udeek Diyan, Ahun Ahun, Lagan Lagan, Uff teri Adaa (with Abhilasha), Paaya Maine, Chhaiyan Chhaiyan, etc. His only bad performance in my view – Yaad Aa Raha Hai (Bappi Lahiri). Please name one performance of Abhilasha, which can compare to the ones I mentioned above, where she just owned the stage, judges, guest, and audience (except her Audition one and then the TOP 18 one). More, Kamal has not given as many (and as much) bad performances as anybody. His graph has been 85–>100(+!!) for all except one. That’s why he is the best in my view.
If you can predict where the singer is going next, isn’t that called having ‘connection’? Actually, that’s the answer right there to his popularity among judges, among other contestants, among guests, among Janata in general; and why he has become POD most times, I guess.
To add to the list : Layee Vi Na Gayi, Tashan Mein, Bhigi Bhigi Raton Mein
His ‘Tere Bina Kamli Hoi’ was a great performance, too, but I can’t find the original one for that!!
Hey Srgmp im happy to be in “ur team” aka” Kamal fans”. Funny how ppl talk about biases and then do the same but with so much venom….im a grt fan of Kamal but still can appreciate the level of singing, when he does grt or when he doesnt…I thought “o re piya was average by his standard….when we say he dint sing too well its becoz we all expect him to rule it all the way…and o re piya was kinda one of his weak ones , though if u compare it with Abhilasah’s weak ones he is way way better any day…..Darde – disco was pretty good though…..
I think Abhilasha is really good , she has been trained to sing since a long time…but the problem is she is not consistent…she sings 2 lines very well n then falters…..she does not carry the whole song flawlessly…..
I just hope ppl get rid of their bias and really listen to Kamal rather than listening to him so they could diss his performance., pls be fair, be an educated listener and a true music lover when u root for a person…….I really wish i could vote for him….Srgmp any provision for voting from NA?
And one more clarification “V” : I like Abhilasha very much. I have spent enough time listening to her (not only this SAREGAMAPA, but Marathi one, too) songs.
And I would be as happy to see her win the title as seeing Kamal win it. I will just be very surprised, if it’s not Kamal, that’s all.
Oh, I forgot to mention the main difference between Kamal and Abhilasha (and actually all other contestants.
Kamal has relatively the BEST, and absolutely very AMAZING control over his voice. This is something of a gift, not a developed ability. He is the least trained (at least in last 6), as you might already know.
To quote Kalaa’s analogy, he is like Tendulkar, who started playing cricket at 11, and just with the gift, confidence, and determination, he was in international cricket at 16. And even being absolutely aware of him being the best among his peers, he kept his head right on his shoulders.
Looks like, Sugandha is out!!
One each from each team. Is that a coincidence?
personally I think that Kamal is one of the finest singers we’ve had in Saregamapa and I don’t think that Debojit Datta was better than him. Amanat is definitely mindblowing , but Vineet was better than Debojeet. But as I said, its only my opinion.
I also think that the Public should also not take into consideration whether judges are manipulating or not, but just evaluate the contestants according to their performances and I believe this is what they have been doing till now.
Hi All, kamal khan though not 10% as versatile as Kishore Kumar as of now has shown the promise of being one in future. We need to remember that he has not been blessed with a wholesome upbringing which would have extended his horizons beyond the punjabi music[which by the way is unarguably one of the most endearing forms of music as proved by its polularity]. He needs to give some peaceful and quality moments spent with “men of the world+thoughts+emotions” for him to evolve as a person and that wil naturally act on his singling. remeber that kishore had an Ashok Kumar for brother. i hope with all my best wishes that it happens.
I, too, bacame an instant fan of Richa after watching the show and yes, I think she made it a very memorable episode as out of all, the one with her sticks out the most in my mind. Absolutely amazing-unbelievable talent and then such a wonderful person on top of that. She came across as someone very happy and content in life. As far as Kamal’s singing is concerned, it’s simply out of this world-may he never lose his focus and go a long, long way…hence, not depriving the entire country and so many others all over the globe, of the pleasure of listening to him. A lot of times I’ve watched the show simply to listen to him sing. Shekhar seems to be very fond of him and I hope he takes care of him. Abilasha is my second favorite. Bishak has his notes always in place and Sungandha has an innocence and charm. All the best to all.
