I am as much sad as on the elimination of Sniti. Just want to salute Ranjeet. The only two contestantons who really reflect our great south asian culture and values were Sniti & Ranjeet. Pakistan says Salam to my Brother Ranjeet and Sister Sniti. God Bless All
It is a very sad Day for Saregamapa and the music it self as because of the poor voting system A great singer like Ranjeet has to leave the stage.
I wish Saregamapa can be kind to Invite Ranjeet to sing his another best Gazal for the Grand finale though not as participant but as the guest singer. As we all are waiting eagerly to listen the soothing voice at the Grand finale. Zee TV must do some thing for this. Please !!! Dukh ye bat ka hai ki jab koi bahot achcha karta hai, ise to sub vote karenge samajkar koi vote nahi karta or fir vo chale jate hai…
Ranjeet wish you very best for the brightest future.
Good show overall.
However, it was expected, still sad to see Ranjeet go. I wish him all very well. Very cute, very decent kid, on top of being talented.
Bishakh was quite good with his ‘classic gold’ solo. Actually, it’s correct for all of them. I guess, our leading music directors and respected judges are not so good at singing, after all!!
Kamal was excellent with his ghazal and Sugandha with her classic. Abhilasha disappointed a bit, quite flat. I was all excited (when I read first which song she had sung in the highlights here) before watching hers, but well…
Abhilasha’s comment on Bishakh – “shayad mein bhi Itna achchha nahi gaa paati” was completely out of place. I don’t think, there was any attitude/rudeness on her face, but still, she should have thought better before saying something stupid like this. I hope, she doesn’t have to pay for this!!
Tomorrow’s performances are yet to be seen, but it’s getting tough. I won’t be surprised to see Abhilasha go next (three reasons – her today’s performance, and her stupid comment on Bishakh, other performed better).
Kamal was the best again, although his lack of versatility again comes to the fore. He is like a finely tuned instrument which produces the same high quality and ghisa pita sound every time.
Second, I would give jointly to Bishakh for a surprisingly good (if not perfect) classical, and Abhilasha for a typically good performance but not as good as she can be.
Sugandha was third, Ranjeet 4th. Sorry to see him go, but he was very clearly the weakest of this group. I would put Sugandha and Bishakh at par.
Silly and unintentionally “arrogant” comment by Abhilasha, and also a silly comment from Kamal on Bishakh about his “koshish” (noticed Manish taunted him on that one too). As always, Sugandha is the most diplomatic and well spoken among these contestants.
Only Daler sang well, as you might expect since he was the only singer, while Sajid and Wajid overshadowed Bishakh and gave him no opportunity to shine, by contrast Vishal gave Kamal all the stage.
The performance by Sugandha and Shekhar was smart and sexy, even if the vocal were not the best. Kudos to them!
Everyone was off their game. Ironically, Ranjeet was the best in his second duet with Daler. For a professional musician, it’s surprising that Daler is not very accommodating his partner. His voice tended to drown out Ranjeet’s.
Abhilasha was throttling a bit much. She was avoiding the high scales (she has been doing that in the last few episodes). Kamal was boring and Bhishak was offkey. Suganddha was uninteresting.
I totally agree with you. Daler tried to overshadow Ranjeet by not letting him sing and drown his voice in his typical jat voice. I have to salute Ranjeet for still appreciating an average singer like Daler Mahendi. Clearly, Ranjeet is the best singer of the show with his clear command on notes, voice and unique style of singing. Kamal Khan and Bhishak are very average generic singers dime a dozen. But these judges are kind of biased towards Sugandha she should have gone for sure. I guess she is the heart throb of Shekhar! I am scandalised.
Correction: accommodating of his partner.
Kamal doesn’t try to imitate original singer’s voice, so he sounds as himself. Well, if somebody doesn’t like his voice, then nothing can be done about it. As for me (and many like me), it’s not a problem, as I just love his high quality, finely tuned voice. And yes, he was actually (at least) the (second) best today (after Sugandha)!!
For Kamal, it’s all ‘Koshish’, whether for himself or for others (as it was obvious from his comments for himself and others today), so, I would not hold it against him. Manish actually didn’t taunt him, but he just repeated what Kamal said softly (my guess, need to check again). Kamal is just too humble!! :-))
Yes “V”, Abhilasha was again ‘flat’ today, not using her own range. The other day, I was listening to her audition one (Tu Chanda Mein Chandani). Where is that Abhilasha??
Kamal type singers are dime a dozen. There are millions like him in India. You will not find a singer like Ranjeet, you should have kept him till the end!
I agree with u srgmp Kamal sings a song and makes it his own…n every time i go back to check who sung it originally i realise i like his version better….
Ash , im quite surprised at ur comment , if there were millions like kamal how come he is the only one in saregamapa? May be it was a typo….more like Kamal is one in millions?? What say correct??
I wana leave my predict here about WINNER OF THIS COMPETITION

SALEEM FROM BARCELONA
It was hearth wrenching to see a talented singer like Ranjit leave! But, I have to admit.. each of these five contestants deserve to be the no. 1. Ranjit is unique and the best in Ghazal world. Not only that, his polite and humble attitude is exemplary! I hope these judges, who are happened be famous music directors will give him chances in their film compositions.
Love you Ranjit….Will miss you alot.
I loved Bishakh’s and Kamal Khan’s so performances today. But, the most impressive was Daler mehndi and Ranjit’s Ghazal, that was an amazing presentation!! Enjoyed every bit of it!!
During their Bhangra Duet, I really liked when Daler paji was changing her voice tone so Ranjit’s soft voice could heard better and clearer as Daler’s voice is very strong and loud!!! I really appreciate his considerate attitude!
Liked to day’s show, only Ranjit’s departure was very sad!!
All the ebst to you Ranjit… The PRINCE OF GHAZAL!
Who deserves to be a prince not only because of his voice but also because of his super charming look and appearance :-)
Correction:
when Daler paji was changing HIS voice tone
Daler Mehndi did not let Ranjeet sing in the first song, that was rude! And the nuances that Ranjeet followed in the ghazal – Daler was trying to screw them up. He is not a gazal singer, should stay away from it and stick to his jat numbers!!!! Very sad to see Ranjeet go! It is a pity, these supposedly good music directors, could not realize his value – I wanted to hear Ranjeet ing a gazal – Zindagi me to sabhi pyar kiya karte hain, main to mar kar bhi meri jaan tujhe chaoonga.
I feel like it shouln’t haven’t been saregamapa singing supterstar but rather it would have sound more good to me if it was saregamapa voters’ favorite star …
Well, Ahmad, ‘Superstar’ is not a degree. Usually, somebody is said to be a ‘Superstar’, when he/she becomes favorite of people…..
Don’t worry, Mu. Daler Pa’ji’s voice does get very confusing (his/her??) sometimes!!
srgmp, you’re right, in her audition Abhilasha was simply outstanding. While this performance wasn’t up to those standards, it was still very good – she just didn’t put full effort into it, or didn’t spend enough time practicing it. Who knows if these people get enough time in the week now?
By the way, yes, in that second Daler-Ranjeet number, Ranjeet sounded very good, and Daler definitely gave him more opening than he gave Abhilasha. He’s a good and talented kid, but yawn it was another ghazal, in his girly voice. What a contrast against Daler’s deeper voice. Give him more time to grow up.
Sugandha’s sur was fine in her individual song, I thought, but she simply couldn’t clarify the vibrato. She’s my favorite of the contestants, but on her performance today we have contrasting opinions.
Donot go by looks!! Sugandha is average! Ranjeet was the best!!!!
y’know, I think many of you get too carried away with how humble or arrogant or whatever attitude is shown by the singer on a given day – and then let it leak into your appraisal of their performance. The judges do this too, I feel.
I always separate the two – performance and attitude – just forget about what they said, or how they are thinking. Hear only the music.
If we knew about Lata’s bad attitude throughout most of her career, and hated her singing for it, that would have been our loss not hers.
Hi Kalaa, Don’t you know that going overboard, getting carried away with irrelevant issues, etc. is very much in our (Indians) character ! Besides, what we often lack is the sense of proportion. We can have a favorite contestant, to have a soft corner also is ok. But one shouldn’t be biased or prejudiced. Good music, good talent should prevail all the time.
One more point I wish to make is everyone talks about “different voice” and viewers hold them high those who have such different or distinct voice. But they do not realize that for the film playback singing your need “common” sweet, melodious voice. The first distinct voice was of “Chanchal” (remember Beshak Mandir Masjid todo” from film Bobby and “Yara ho yara ishq ne mara” from film Benaam). Even if the distinct voice is of Sukhvinder, would you like him sing every second song in movies ? How long will you bear that ? Once in a while, they sound better just like a chutni or pickle in a meal. You cannot have them like a vegetable !
Everyone raves about Kamal’s voice. I too was quite impressed with his voice and more with his singing prowess. But ever since he stuck to the same genre and same style and more with Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali’s Punjabi, sufi types songs, I was wondering whether this was a hindi language contest. Just like Ranjeet stuck to Gazal genre, Kamal to mostly stuck to sufi style only. That is why now I find his performances really monotonous. He is TOO GOOD in this particular genre, no doubt about that. But would you like to hear singer Bhupinder’s 15 songs in a row ? After a while you will not know whether those were 15 different songs or the same song played 15 times !
Frankly speaking i would…do u prefer Bishakh belting out average soundind numbers in different genre or Kamal giving out flwless performances ? As for being singing similar genre songs…he has sung sufi, qawali, ghaza, hard hitting rock number( Dilhara) ……thats pretty versatile..dont u think??
In retrospect, I find Bishakh to be more versatile than other male contestants. In spite of all his limitations, still he modulates his voice so well in different genres and everytime he sounded so different like the original singer. Same Vishakh once sounded so much like Shanka Mahadevan, the other time like Kishor Kumar, then yesterday’s Madhuban mein radhika in Mohd. Rafi’s tone which has pleasantly surprised me. As far as versatility is concerned, he will come next to Abhilasha.
Do u vote for ” Average Versatility” over excellent singing in one genre??
For those of you who are Abhilasha’s ardent fans who are wondering where is the Abhilasha from the auditions, I am giving below weblinks of 2 of her beautiful performances from Zee Marathi SRGMP.
First one “Mohabbat Aisi Dhadkan Hai” – Golden great Hindi song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRLM-Awi-MY&feature=related
Second one “Yun Hasraton Ke Daag” – supreme gazal by Madan Mohan
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9L3jiOmT6PY&feature=channel
After listening to these songs, hope your confidence revives in Abhilasha’s due eligibility in the title.
I am on a row now ! Again, for Abhilasha fans, here are weblinks to 3 of her super performances from Zee Marathi SRGMP. In spite of being non-marathi, she has sung them so well, truly astounding. Also, please also see the judges’ critical evaluation ( even if you may not understand it fully, you will realize that this is how judging is done !).
Mala Jau Dyana Ghari – Marathi Laavani (equivalent of Hindi Mujra) from Marathi movie Natrang – originally sung by Bela Shende
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsIS_CREvAo
Rajsa Javli Jara Basa – Marathi Laavani (equivalent of semi-classical Thumari) – originally sung by Lata (tought by her own grandmother)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T6Mt3sIWt9o
Mi Radhika – a marvelous fully classical based song sung my Aarti Ankalikar-Tikekar
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0eHkNTRXiA&feature=related
It will be worth a viewing, I assure you !
wow, that Mala Jau Dyana Ghari rendition was just awesome! IIRC, this was the one she also sang in the audition.
Funny.. she sings Marathi so well and with correct pronunciation, but apparently doesn’t speak a word? From her name, I thought she may be South Indian but perhaps mother is Marathi.
Anyway, khup chaan gayali, aikun khup bara vaatla.
Vijay
1. She didn’t even win the Marathi SRGMP
2. She is acting very diffident . She has to let it all hang out, instead of choking.
3. Instead of playing to her strength by choosing evergreen melodies, she has been choosing eminently forgettable songs.
Kalaa, Vijay, V : Great posts, I loved all.
Yes, Abhilasha has always been in the line for the title. Actually, when I saw the auditions, she impressed me the most. My immediate reaction was, this girl is going to win it!! But, over time, her performance has degraded. V is very right, she needs to let it all hang out, and stop choosing forgettable songs, and yes, she isn’t the same one from Marathi SAREGAMAPA. She better shape up and get a handle on things, if she wants to win.
I wish, the best one wins, but I still think Kamal is going to win, because, even after choosing songs mostly from same genre (and I don’t even understand Punjabi), he has been able to get my attention almost all the time. It (probably) might not have happened, if I had just ‘heard’ his songs, but with the audio-visual, I think, he has something very powerful which is going to carry him all the way.
Ranjeets elimination was very sad as he is such a sweet and gifted boy. Wish him all the best in life.He is a star.
Sugandha and kamal were mindblowing and I believe they have been the most consistant contestants on the show. Kamal has such a nice voice and is a terrific singer. He is the only one who has never been in danger zone and that proves that he is a great singer.
